August Cards

Hello everyone!  I'm a little, well maybe a lot, behind as usual.  In an effort to catch back up, I'm going to post a recap of the cards I made in August.  Since I can't seem to keep up, that's my goal is at least to post once a month.  So here goes! 

Mooch and the fairy foragers putting the flowers to sleep, that's what I imagine is going on in this scene.  This is a 5x7 piece that I actually ended up framing, instead of making into a card.  I made the background on the gel press with Elements Inks from Lavinia Stamps and Brushos.   All of the stamps are Lavinia Stamps.  Other inks used are Versafine Claire and Close to My Heart.  I threw in some Inktense and Prismacolors for good measure.  There is always sparkle from a gelly roll stardust pen that I can never capture in pictures. 

This next card is also a 5x7.  It was just after the Olympics, so I figured our forest friends may be having a competition of their own.   This background is from the Lavinia Dreamscapes paper pack.  The inks and stamps are same as above. I just love these hares.  The Druid's Inn stamp is one of my favorite scenery stamps from Lavinia.

I had seen a picture circulating facebook of a snail with a berry.  It was an incredible photo.  I tried my best to recreate it here.  The background was made on the gel press with Distress Oxides, Brushos, and dye inks.  All the stamps are Lavinia, including the new sentiment stamps which I heat embossed on the strips.  There was a good bit of coloring on here with Prismacolors over the stamped images.

This next card is a standard A2 sized card.  This is one of the new fairies, Quinn, with her new Fairy Heart Charm.  I love, love, love the new release from Lavinia Stamps.  This background was made with Distress Oxides.  I used Versafine Claire ink to stamp Quinn and the branches.  The leaves are stamped with dye inks from Close to My Heart.    I left the sentiment off of this one, but I feel like it could be used for so many things: birthdays, thinking of you, just a note, thanks, etc.

Moonlit Conversations

Hello everyone! I thought I would make a quick post to share a card I made today.  This month's theme for the Lavinia Stamps Challenge is Midnight Magic.  I attempted to make it look like midnight, but I ended up with more like 8:00 PM...lol.  

 

I do however really love Rufus, the fox.  He is probably my favorite fox from Lavinia.  All stamps in this card are from Lavinia Stamps.  The background was made with Distress Oxide inks.  The images were stamped with Versafine Claire in Nocturne.  The rest of the coloring is a combination of dye inks used as watercolors, pencils, and pens.  Of course, you can't see the sparkle in the photo, except where I tried to make stars and used the sparkle pen.  They did not turn out as planned, of course those you can see..lol.

June Cards

Hello everyone!  I can't believe it's already July!  Half of the year is gone already.  I haven't had much time to post, so I thought I would do a compilation post of the cards I did in June. All of these feature Lavinia Stamps.

 This one was using the colors from the Butterfly Reflections Ink Mood Board Instagram challenge color cues.  I personally challenged myself not to use any black ink.  The background is a blend of Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry, Squeezed Lemon, Peacock Feathers, and Salty Ocean.  The darkest ink is Versafine Claire in Twilight.  I used Prismacolor pencils to give some dimension to the fairies and butterflies. 

This one I made from a background I wasn't particularly happy with.  Funny how things work out, because I ended up liking it in this card. That is why I never throw one away.  It may not be what you intended, but it may work for something.  The moon was made using pan pastel in Titanium White. 

The next one uses a page from my Lavinia Dreamscape paper pad.  These backgrounds are so dreamy. I used Versafine Claire inks in Nocturne, Twilight, and Monarch on this one.   She really sparkles, but I can never get that to show in a photo. 

I did two more cards, which were adorable little gnomes from the Whimsy Stamp set Think Spring.  For some reason I can't get my photos to load, but you can check them out on my Instagram account- stacy_scraps.

Moonlight Serenade

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share another card I made with some Lavinia Stamps.  Yes, I am addicted. I have found a whole new world to create using these stamps.  This one is using the new mini stamp called, Jiminy.     Jiminy is perched on the Meadow Mushroom in between the Druid's Inn tree trunks, in a field full of Bluebells.  The background was made with Dylusion ink sprays.  I used Versafine Claire inks to stamp my images and then used Prismacolor pencils and CTMH dye inks to color them in or enhance the images.  I used a little white pigment ink to color the moon and make some floating orbs, or maybe fireflies.  I dotted the centers with a white Posca pen.  These scenes are so much fun to make.

The challenge this week at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog  is "Anything Goes" so I will be entering this card there.  Also, I'll be entering it in the Fairy Stamper Hug facebook bi-weekly challenge.

Inviting Mr. O'Hare

"Do you like carrots, Mr. O'Hare?" Mr. O'Hare nods excitedly at Darcy.  "We have carrots in the garden at my house if you would like to come.  It's just up this path."  Excitedly, Darcy takes the lead and off they go.

I can't help but to make up dialog for these little characters from Lavinia Stamps.  This is a 5x7 card I made with Darcy, Wild Hares, Small Dwellings, Skeleton Tree Scene, and Fairy Path stamps.  There are some other smaller stamps used for the flowers. This background is one I have had that I grabbed from my basket of backgrounds.  I'm sure this one was made with dye inks on the gel press, I'm just not sure with which colors.  Everything else is stamped with Versafine Claire inks.  I used a fine liner pen and drew the stepping stones from the end of the Fairy Path stamp to the door of Darcy's house.  

This week at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday's challenge it is "Anything Goes."  I will be entering this card there and also, on the Fairy Stamper Hugs facebook page for their bi-weekly challenge.

Meadow Mushrooms

 Hello everyone!  This month the Creative Challenge at Lavinia Stamps is Mushroom Magic.  I created a card using several mushroom stamps from Lavinia along with the Bluebell stamp and Twisted Vine.  Of course, I had to add something with wings, so Dragonfly made a cameo as well. 

This background was made on the gel press with a combination of Distress Oxides and Brushos. Everything else is stamped in Versafine Claire inks.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to add some dimension.  Once again, what you can't see in this picture is the glittery shimmer of the Sakura gelly roll pen I used for highlights and dots.  I tried to capture it in the picture below.  Please forgive my poor lighting.

Small Dwellings by the Lake

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a card I made after watching a video demonstration from Tracey Dutton at Lavinia Stamps.  I loved the color and composition of her card and tried to recreate one for myself.  I didn't have the exact stamps or colors, but I got as close as I could. 

This is a slimline card that fits into a standard #10 envelope.  The background is a blend of distress oxide inks.  The rest is a combination of Versafine Claire inks and CTMH dye inks.  I used some Inktense pencils for the reflection.  What you can't see here are the dots of the Signo gold glitter pen. I can never capture the shimmer in my pictures.

March Cards

 Hello everyone!  I just wanted to drop by and share some of the cards I made this past month.  These were all posted on Instagram and Facebook.  I'm a part of several crafty groups on Facebook, but the two I post most of my Lavinia makes are Lavinia For You and Fairy Stamper Hugs.  Both are great groups with an immense amount of talented people.  There is always something inspiring on those pages for the world of Lavinia Stamps.   Here are the cards I made this past month, with exception of Mr. Wallace's birthday greetings which was on the previous post. 

First up is Spread the Word.  That's what I envision these three are talking about.  Spring is here, spread the word. This little scene is all Lavinia Stamps, at least seven of them.  Scenes like this are fun to build for me. 

 

 

On this next card I thought I would try something new.  I used my dye inks from Close To My Heart to stamp my background and flowers.  The sentiment is an old CTMH stamp, but the rest is Lavinia. 

 

 

I carried on with the dye inks to make two more Easter cards with just dye inks.  They have an old fashioned feel to them to me.  All the stamps and stencils used are Lavinia except the sentiment, which is CTMH.  I had fun giving life to these little bunnies by layering inks and using prismacolor pencils to highlight and shade. 

 

Next, I had a go with a new stamp to me, Mideela.  I love all things winged, dragons included.  I almost threw this background away because I wasn't sure of the colors, but decided to stamp on it anyway.  Turned out with some unusual color, but overall I am pleased with it. 

 

 

 

This is one of my all-time favorites I think. I am not sure if it's the color or depth of scene, or that beautiful Forest Temple door.  It was definitely a more involved scene than others I had done before.  I used Versafine inks, dye inks, prismacolor pencils, white gel pen and a black fine liner pen to create this scene.   Again, this was a background I wasn't really happy with, but decided to try something new with is.  Glad I did.

Lavinia Stamps had a new release a couple of weeks ago.  In it was the star of this next card, the new Lilium set.  I love flowers, almost as much as fairies :)  I made a simple card with a simple sentiment.  I thought it worked out well.   The sentiment is one I typed on the computer, printed out, and cut down to be a strip.  I do this a lot.  You don't have to have a fancy program. I used Wordpad.  Type what you want to say, highlight the text in black, and the change your text color to white.  Voila!  Much easier than stamping on black cardstock and embossing.  Although, I do love to do that as well.

 

 

Here is another one of my favorites from this past month.  My butterfly doodle card.  I watched a video from Jo Rice where she used a stamp from Aall and Create to make a slimline card. I really liked the design.   I didn't have that stamp, but I did  have butterfly stamps.  I found a stamp from BoBunny I had never used.  It's a gorgeous butterfly and stamps amazingly.  I cut out circles on copy paper and used them as stencils to fill in with my dye inks.  I found some super old, retired background stamps from CTMH and threw those in there.  There are some wildflower stamps and then some doodling by me.  I sparkled it up (not that you can tell by the picture) using some gems and my wink of stella pen.  I may try to make more in this fashion. I really love how it turned out. 

 

While I had the same color inks and my circle cut outs on my desk, I made the next card.  Everything is Lavinia on this card.  This was not the direction I was heading when I started on this one, but somehow Lavinia stamps crept on my card.  Funny how they do that.  This is one of my favorite fairies, Spellbound.  This was the first stamping of my new Dragon Pods stamp, too.  It was something different for me, but I liked it.

CAS with Mr. Wallace

 Hello everyone!  I thought I would share a card I made with some Lavinia Stamps and a design featured on the CAS Colour and Sketches Challenge Blog.   I have seen so many pretty meadow scenes as Spring is almost here.  I had made a couple of cards featuring flowers, but this one included Mr. Wallace from the Wallace family stamp set.  I just thought these hedgehogs were adorable.  

I layered my Lavinia stencil over a scrap circle cut-out.  All the flowers were small stamps from Lavinia sets.  Mr. Wallace is from the Wallace family set and the butterfly is from the Butterfly set.  I used my dye inks from Close to My Heart.  The sentiment is from a CTMH set as well. 

I really liked the sketch and I think I may try this again with different stamps.  This card is going to a friend.  Hope she likes it.

Faith Clean and Simple

Hello everyone!  I stumbled across a sketch from CAS Colours & Sketches and thought I would give it a try.  I used Faith, a fairy stamp from Lavinia Stamps and my new Pebble stencil, also from Lavinia.   I added a little Distress Oxide inks and voila!  Pretty simple, but I love the effect.  Sometimes I forget how much I enjoy white space.

Fairy Dust Is Like Love

Hello everyone!  Back to share with you a card I made with some Lavinia Stamps and stencil.  I really love the Flourish stencil.  It turned out a little more pinkish than I had planned.  The fairies are dusting the little bunny with fairy dust.  The inside sentiment is another Lavinia Stamp that reads, "Fairy dust is like love, it creates magic whenever you give it away." You can't see the glittery sprinkling of dust in the picture, but it's there.

Peace on Earth

 Hello everyone!  A quick post tonight to share with you an ornament I made.  I found an old package of CTMH chipboard shapes.  They just happened to be ornaments.  I had signed up for an ornament exchange in a group I'm in on facebook.  I thought these would work out splendidly. 

This one I stamped on paper and then glued to the ornament.  I did find out later the chipboard shapes do take ink well.  I used my new Lavinia Stamps to create this winter scene.  The sentiment is part of an old stamp set from CTMH.

Dreamscapes with Lunar Buds

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a couple of cards I made using another piece of paper from the Dreamscapes 8x8 paper pack from Lavinia Stamps.  I do love these papers for backgrounds.  I with they were a little thicker and maybe a different texture, but the designs are so pretty.

The first one was a horizontal side-fold card featuring Jaylar and Christopher Caterpillar.  The background looked like Lunar Buds, so I focused on them as well.  I used my new mini mushroom stamp, as well.    Versafine Claire ink in Monarch was used to create the moon and burnish the edges.  Everything was stamped in Versafine Clarie Nocturne.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to highlight the lunar buds.   You can't see the sparkle here, but it's there!  Wink of Stella and Gellyroll Stardust pens were used to add the sparkle. 

 

 

The next one is a standard A2 top-fold card.  I used the same background paper as the one above.  This one features one of the Whimsical Hares, Fairy Bells, Lunar Buds, Berry Leaves, and the dragonfly from the Bugs set.  I used Versafine Claire in Rain Forest to make the hills, and then Monarch for the moon and edges.   The images are stamped in Nocturne. 

 

I have really had fun creating these scenes.  I have some more scraps from this paper that I will create something with.  I'll be sure to post when I do.  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog's challenge this week is Animal Antics.  I will be entering this card in that.  I will also be entering it into the bi-weekly Lavinia World Challenges #36, which is anything goes.

Honeysuckle and Dreamscapes

 Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a card I made using the Dreamscapes paper pack by Lavinia Stamps.  This paper pack is 8"x8" and double-sided.  I so wish it was single-sided.  I hate to waste a good background!  And these backgrounds are beautiful.  This is the first card I made. 

I cut this 8x8 sheet so that I would be able to get at least two standard size A2 cards.  The flowers are the Honeysuckle stamp and the fairy is called Spellbound, both by Lavinia Stamps.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to color in the flowers with white.  The leaves, stems, and wings are colored with Inktense watercolor pencils.  I use the brush to tip method.  For the edges I used Versafine Claire ink in Medieval Blue.  I finished it off with lots of glittery accents to the wings using my Gellyroll stardust pen and Wink of Stella brush. 

This card was made using the other half of this cut from the 8x8 sheet.  It already had words printed on there, so incorporated those into the design.  They were very springy in nature, so I used my favorite little hares.

I'm not sure if they are tiny little bunnies, or those are really big mushrooms, but I think they are cute together.  All are from Lavinia Stamps, along with the butterflies and twisted vines for grass sprigs.  I used Versafine Claire in Rain Forest for the ground and, again, Medieval Blue around the edges. 

 I managed to make two more things from the same sheet of paper which I will be sure to share later.

Nobody Gets Me Like You

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share with you today a card I made using the new Fairy Hugs backgrounds from Lavinia World Store.  This background actually came as a sample in one my previous orders.  It does not have the coating that the Lavinia Scenescapes has and it is double sided.  It reminded me of a forest scene, so that is what it became.   I'm not a fan of spiders, or bugs, but Lavinia does have some neat little bug stamps.  Christopher caterpillar needed a friend, so I gave him one. 

These backgrounds come in a 6x6 sheet.  I cut this one down to make a 5x7 card.  Everything is stamped in Versafine Claire Nocturne.  The ground is Versafine Claire in Rain Forest.  The sentiment is from a SSS stamp set called "Love This" from years ago (2013 maybe?)  I added some color to my berries with Inktense pencils and burnished the edges with Versafine Claire Medieval Blue.   You can't see it from this picture, but there are Stardust sparkles all over the mushroom and throughout the foilage. I added a little heart from my stash for a bit of color.  I didn't want it being too dark.  I wanted to add some white highlights to everything, but I'll be honest, I was scared I would mess it all up..lol.  Maybe next time.

Scenescapes

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share another card I made with one of my new Lavinia Stamps.  This one is Wild Poppies.  The background is from Lavinia as well.  This one is called Summer Night.    I love these backgrounds, not only for the colors and scenes, but the texture, too.  It's very glossy, but takes Versafine Claire ink beautifully. 

The backgrounds come in a 5 x 7.5" size.  I originally had different plans for this background, but it just didn't work out as planned.  I refuse to waste a good background, so I salvaged what I could.  I managed to make this card and a couple of minis, which I will share later ( I forgot to photograph!)  I also found a new favorite white pen. I ordered a pack of Gellyroll bright white pens with my last order from Lavinia World Store.  They quickly became my favorite white ink pen. They come in a pack of three and very reasonably priced.

Eden and Darcy

Hello everyone!  I'm back with more fairy fun.  This card features Eden and Darcy in what looks to be a conversation.  Perhaps words of encouragement, reassurance on the first day of fairy school, or just a simple hello, let your imagination choose. 

All the stamps used for this card are Lavinia Stamps.  They are stamped in Versafine Clarie Nocturne.  I used my Inktense penicls to add a splash of color here and there.  The background is one of the many I made last weekend.  It's a combination of Distress Oxides and dye inks from Close to My Heart.  There are glittery accents thanks to my Wink of Stella and Gelly Roll Stardust pens.

Calla Lilies

 Hello everyone!  Dropping in to share a couple of cards I made with the Altenew Paint-a-Flower stamp for September, Calla Lily.  

This one I colored with my Copics markers.  They are both standard size A2 side-fold cards.  I have been using Hamilco White #110 cardstock.  I was trying to find an alternative to Copic Xpressit and Neena Solar White.  For the price, I have been very satisfied with this paper.  It takes in very well. 

The card below was stamped on Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor paper and embossed with Ranger super fine detail Liquid Platinum.  It's my all around favorite gold-toned embossing powder.  I broke out the Prima water colors for this one.  I struggle with watercolor.  I ended up using my Inktense pencils to color the flowers in order to get the color I wanted.

 

 

I have enjoyed the Paint-a-Flower stamp sets so far.  I'll be honest, this one was a little hard to color for me.  Uncolored this image is hard to follow.  Maybe it's just my old eyes :)

Moonlit Blues Concert

Hello everyone!  I'm here to share a card I made with Sky.  She's another one of my new stamps from Lavinia Stamps.   I made a bunch of backgrounds last weekend.  This was one of them.  It's all trial and error and no two are alike.  Sometimes you get a good one and sometimes, not.  I liked the colors in this one.  

All the stamps used are Lavinia Stamps.  The fairy is Sky.  I used one of the Wild Hares, Butterflies, Tree Branch, the leaves from the Fairy Door set, mini mushrooms, and Twisted Vines. I blended Versafine Claire Inks in Twilight and Medieval Blue for the ground and to create the shading on the edges.  Her wings are colored with Inktense pencils.  You can't see the sparkle in this picture, but the moon and the foliage have some sparkle thanks to my Stardust pen.  

I will enter her in a couple of challenges which I will list below.  The challenge on the Lavinia Stamps blog is "Dark but Bright."  It has a riddle:  “What is bright but sometimes doesn't give off light?"  I think it's the moon.  You are to solve the riddle and base your picture on it.  This was my take.

Freya's House

 Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a card I made with some of my new Lavinia Stamps.  This is Freya's House.  The minute I saw this quirky little fairy house, I knew I had to have it.  This card took a little time since there was some masking and pencil coloring involved, but I am happy with how it turned out.  

I stamped the house in Versafine Claire Nocturne and then masked it off.  I also masked off a border around the edges of the card.  When everything was covered I used Distress Oxide inks in Sqeezed Lemonade, Abandoned Coral, and Picked Raspberry to create the background.   While everything was still masked I used Versafine Claire in Rain Forest and some torn paper to create the ground beneath the house.  I also used the new Pebble stencil from Lavinia Stamps to create the little stone pattern in front of the house.  The other stamps used were Birds, Fairy Bells, and Twisted Vines to create the surroundings.   After everything was stamped I pulled off my masking and colored the house with Prismacolor pencils.   I colored a prototype of this little house to see which colors I wanted to use, so it may find a home on a card later as well.  

Finally, I used a SSS Postage Stamp Die to cut my card front. Then it was mounted on a standard A2-sized top-fold black card base.
