Hello everyone! I'm still doing layouts in my effort to get my books caught up. Scrapbook Generation has some wonderful sketches and their facebook page has some awesome sketch challenges. This sketch was from Debbie Sanders and it's free this month. You can join their facebook group called SG Scrap Squad and download it. I love their sketches. Here's my take on it.
I've almost got the band book caught up. Woohoo! I went by the sketch about as closely as I could. I spend a lot of time planning and designing a layout. When I can find a layout sketch I like, it is such a time saver. And this one worked well with the pictures I had.
I won't bore you with all the details, but I'll point out a few things I did that I thought worked out well for the layout. The title I made with the same papers from the layout, using my Silhouette (<--such a great tool). Using the font Constantia I cut my title, then offset it and cut again with the Hollyhock cardstock, then offset again and cut it out of black cardstock. The font was a little too spindly without some background and just got lost in all the pattern. By using the two mats, it gives it a little more depth. I did the same thing for the year. I thought it turned out rather cute. The little flowers and butterflies were made with punches. The butterflies were punched from the one inch strip left over from the background paper. The shape fit on the design perfectly to get a very interesting pattern for the wings. The little flags on the banner I cut different designs on the ends according to the sketch. I used the one inch strips of leftover paper for those. Overall, I thought this layout turned out pretty cute.
I'll list all the supplies I can below. I'm also trying to use up my stash. I will have some more layouts to share shortly. That's it for me tonight. Thanks for stopping by!
