Peace on Earth

Hello everyone!  A quick post tonight to share with you an ornament I made.  I found an old package of CTMH chipboard shapes.  They just happened to be ornaments.  I had signed up for an ornament exchange in a group I'm in on facebook.  I thought these would work out splendidly.

This one I stamped on paper and then glued to the ornament.  I did find out later the chipboard shapes do take ink well.  I used my new Lavinia Stamps to create this winter scene.  The sentiment is part of an old stamp set from CTMH.

I'll be entering this in a couple of challenges, which I will list below.

Thanks for stopping by!

Dreamscapes with Lunar Buds

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a couple of cards I made using another piece of paper from the Dreamscapes 8x8 paper pack from Lavinia Stamps.  I do love these papers for backgrounds.  I with they were a little thicker and maybe a different texture, but the designs are so pretty.

The first one was a horizontal side-fold card featuring Jaylar and Christopher Caterpillar.  The background looked like Lunar Buds, so I focused on them as well.  I used my new mini mushroom stamp, as well.    Versafine Claire ink in Monarch was used to create the moon and burnish the edges.  Everything was stamped in Versafine Clarie Nocturne.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to highlight the lunar buds.   You can't see the sparkle here, but it's there!  Wink of Stella and Gellyroll Stardust pens were used to add the sparkle.

The next one is a standard A2 top-fold card.  I used the same background paper as the one above.  This one features one of the Whimsical Hares, Fairy Bells, Lunar Buds, Berry Leaves, and the dragonfly from the Bugs set.  I used Versafine Claire in Rain Forest to make the hills, and then Monarch for the moon and edges.   The images are stamped in Nocturne.

I have really had fun creating these scenes.  I have some more scraps from this paper that I will create something with.  I'll be sure to post when I do.  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge Blog's challenge this week is Animal Antics.  I will be entering this card in that.  I will also be entering it into the bi-weekly Lavinia World Challenges #36, which is anything goes.

That's all for me tonight.  Thanks for stopping by!

Honeysuckle and Dreamscapes

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a card I made using the Dreamscapes paper pack by Lavinia Stamps.  This paper pack is 8"x8" and double-sided.  I so wish it was single-sided.  I hate to waste a good background!  And these backgrounds are beautiful.  This is the first card I made.

I cut this 8x8 sheet so that I would be able to get at least two standard size A2 cards.  The flowers are the Honeysuckle stamp and the fairy is called Spellbound, both by Lavinia Stamps.  I used my Prismacolor pencils to color in the flowers with white.  The leaves, stems, and wings are colored with Inktense watercolor pencils.  I use the brush to tip method.  For the edges I used Versafine Claire ink in Medieval Blue.  I finished it off with lots of glittery accents to the wings using my Gellyroll stardust pen and Wink of Stella brush.

This card was made using the other half of this cut from the 8x8 sheet.  It already had words printed on there, so incorporated those into the design.  They were very springy in nature, so I used my favorite little hares.

I'm not sure if they are tiny little bunnies, or those are really big mushrooms, but I think they are cute together.  All are from Lavinia Stamps, along with the butterflies and twisted vines for grass sprigs.  I used Versafine Claire in Rain Forest for the ground and, again, Medieval Blue around the edges.

I managed to make two more things from the same sheet of paper which I will be sure to share later.

That's it for me.  Thanks for stopping by!

Nobody Gets Me Like You

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share with you today a card I made using the new Fairy Hugs backgrounds from Lavinia World Store.  This background actually came as a sample in one my previous orders.  It does not have the coating that the Lavinia Scenescapes has and it is double sided.  It reminded me of a forest scene, so that is what it became.   I'm not a fan of spiders, or bugs, but Lavinia does have some neat little bug stamps.  Christopher caterpillar needed a friend, so I gave him one.

These backgrounds come in a 6x6 sheet.  I cut this one down to make a 5x7 card.  Everything is stamped in Versafine Claire Nocturne.  The ground is Versafine Claire in Rain Forest.  The sentiment is from a SSS stamp set called "Love This" from years ago (2013 maybe?)  I added some color to my berries with Inktense pencils and burnished the edges with Versafine Claire Medieval Blue.   You can't see it from this picture, but there are Stardust sparkles all over the mushroom and throughout the foilage. I added a little heart from my stash for a bit of color.  I didn't want it being too dark.  I wanted to add some white highlights to everything, but I'll be honest, I was scared I would mess it all up..lol.  Maybe next time.

That's it for me today.  Thanks for stopping by!

Scenescapes

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share another card I made with one of my new Lavinia Stamps.  This one is Wild Poppies.  The background is from Lavinia as well.  This one is called Summer Night.    I love these backgrounds, not only for the colors and scenes, but the texture, too.  It's very glossy, but takes Versafine Claire ink beautifully.

The backgrounds come in a 5 x 7.5" size.  I originally had different plans for this background, but it just didn't work out as planned.  I refuse to waste a good background, so I salvaged what I could.  I managed to make this card and a couple of minis, which I will share later ( I forgot to photograph!)  I also found a new favorite white pen. I ordered a pack of Gellyroll bright white pens with my last order from Lavinia World Store.  They quickly became my favorite white ink pen. They come in a pack of three and very reasonably priced.

That's all for me tonight.  I will be entering this in the Lavinia World bi-weekly challenge.  I'll be sure to get the other cards posted as well.  Thanks for stopping by!

Eden and Darcy

Hello everyone!  I'm back with more fairy fun.  This card features Eden and Darcy in what looks to be a conversation.  Perhaps words of encouragement, reassurance on the first day of fairy school, or just a simple hello, let your imagination choose.

All the stamps used for this card are Lavinia Stamps.  They are stamped in Versafine Clarie Nocturne.  I used my Inktense penicls to add a splash of color here and there.  The background is one of the many I made last weekend.  It's a combination of Distress Oxides and dye inks from Close to My Heart.  There are glittery accents thanks to my Wink of Stella and Gelly Roll Stardust pens.

I'll be entering her in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Stamp It!

That's all for now.  Thanks for stopping by!

Calla Lilies

Hello everyone!  Dropping in to share a couple of cards I made with the Altenew Paint-a-Flower stamp for September, Calla Lily.

This one I colored with my Copics markers.  They are both standard size A2 side-fold cards.  I have been using Hamilco White #110 cardstock.  I was trying to find an alternative to Copic Xpressit and Neena Solar White.  For the price, I have been very satisfied with this paper.  It takes in very well.

The card below was stamped on Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor paper and embossed with Ranger super fine detail Liquid Platinum.  It's my all around favorite gold-toned embossing powder.  I broke out the Prima water colors for this one.  I struggle with watercolor.  I ended up using my Inktense pencils to color the flowers in order to get the color I wanted.

I have enjoyed the Paint-a-Flower stamp sets so far.  I'll be honest, this one was a little hard to color for me.  Uncolored this image is hard to follow.  Maybe it's just my old eyes :)

That's it for me, for now.  Thanks for stopping by!

Moonlit Blues Concert

Hello everyone!  I'm here to share a card I made with Sky.  She's another one of my new stamps from Lavinia Stamps.   I made a bunch of backgrounds last weekend.  This was one of them.  It's all trial and error and no two are alike.  Sometimes you get a good one and sometimes, not.  I liked the colors in this one.

All the stamps used are Lavinia Stamps.  The fairy is Sky.  I used one of the Wild Hares, Butterflies, Tree Branch, the leaves from the Fairy Door set, mini mushrooms, and Twisted Vines. I blended Versafine Claire Inks in Twilight and Medieval Blue for the ground and to create the shading on the edges.  Her wings are colored with Inktense pencils.  You can't see the sparkle in this picture, but the moon and the foliage have some sparkle thanks to my Stardust pen.

I will enter her in a couple of challenges which I will list below.  The challenge on the Lavinia Stamps blog is "Dark but Bright."  It has a riddle:  “What is bright but sometimes doesn't give off light?"  I think it's the moon.  You are to solve the riddle and base your picture on it.  This was my take.

That's all for now. I have some more goodies to share soon.  Thanks for stopping by!

Freya's House

Hello everyone!  I wanted to share a card I made with some of my new Lavinia Stamps.  This is Freya's House.  The minute I saw this quirky little fairy house, I knew I had to have it.  This card took a little time since there was some masking and pencil coloring involved, but I am happy with how it turned out.

I stamped the house in Versafine Claire Nocturne and then masked it off.  I also masked off a border around the edges of the card.  When everything was covered I used Distress Oxide inks in Sqeezed Lemonade, Abandoned Coral, and Picked Raspberry to create the background.   While everything was still masked I used Versafine Claire in Rain Forest and some torn paper to create the ground beneath the house.  I also used the new Pebble stencil from Lavinia Stamps to create the little stone pattern in front of the house.  The other stamps used were Birds, Fairy Bells, and Twisted Vines to create the surroundings.   After everything was stamped I pulled off my masking and colored the house with Prismacolor pencils.   I colored a prototype of this little house to see which colors I wanted to use, so it may find a home on a card later as well.

Finally, I used a SSS Postage Stamp Die to cut my card front. Then it was mounted on a standard A2-sized top-fold black card base.

I will be entering this into a couple of challenges, which I will list below.  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, stay safe, and stay creative!

Paoenia Japonica by Altenew

Hello everyone!  I'm dropping in to share a couple of cards I made with my new Paint-a-Flower stamp of the month from Altenew.  It has been a long time since I was in a monthly subscription, but I thought I would give this one a try.  I mean, they send me flowers every month.  How cool is that?  For August, it was the Paoenia Japonica.   I have made two cards so far.  I really love the size of this floral.  It would be a lot of ground to cover with pencils, but has enough space to get in the details with watercolor and marker.  The first one was colored with Copics.

This is a standard A2 size top-fold card.  Part of the stamp is cut off, but not much.  Hope that gives you an idea of the size of the stamp.  I really like it.

For the next card, I embossed with image with Liquid Platinum embossing powder from Ranger.  It is one of my all-time favorite gold-tone embossing powders.  I stamped it on the smooth side of the pre-cut Distress Watercolor Cardstock.  The watercolors are from the Decadent Pies set from Prima.  I love the colors in this set. I am not the best at watercolor, so I don't even come close to doing them justice, but they are very pretty.

That's all for now.  The weather is yucky, which equals a crafting day in my book! I'll be entering one of these cards in some challenges, which I will list below.  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!

Honeysuckle and Bees

Hello everyone!  Just dropping in with to share a card I made with some new stamps I got from Lavinia World.  This is Honeysuckle and the mini Bee stamp.  I felt like doing a little coloring.  I'm still following the "Orange and Lemon" theme over at the Lavinia Stamps Challenge Blog.  I love honeysuckle.  It has always grown in my backyard and during the summer is usually full of bees.

This ended up a 6x6 side-fold card.  I stamped my honeysuckle in Memento Tuxedo Black and then colored it with my Copics.  I totally forgot what I was doing and stamped my bees in Versafine Claire Nocturne, so they are colored with my Prismacolor pencils.

That's it for me today.  Hope everyone is staying safe.  Thanks for stopping by!

Snail Mail

Hello everyone!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  I thought I would drop by to share a card I made using my new Snail Set stamp from Lavinia Stamps.  I would never have thought I would have bought a snail stamp, but for some reason I couldn't resist.

I had found a background I had made previously and was not happy with it.  I almost tossed it, but then thought I would just see what I could do with it.   I also used my new Fairy Bells stamp along with the Mini Leaf 2 stamp to create my little scene.  I used Versafine Claire inks in Twilight, Nocturne, and Rain Forest.    I originally used Twilight to highlight the circle  in the middle, maybe a sun, but something was missing.  I then used the negative and white pigment ink. That was too stark, so I went over it with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink.  That was better.  You can't really tell in the photo. I used my Inktense pencils to add a little color to my snail.  I decorated the inside as well.

All in all, it turned out a lot better than I thought it would.  I'm a sucker for a good note card.

That's all for me today.  I have a few more things I'll try to get posted in the upcoming week, so stop back by.  I'll be entering this in the Lavinia World Challenge #33.   Thanks again for stopping by!  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!

Pippin and Butterflies

Hello everyone!  I thought I would share a card I made for a friend.  She wanted a card for her sister who's child was going off to college.  I have always liked the sentiment and have to remind myself of it often in these ever-changing times.

I blended Distress Oxide Inks in Squeezed Lemonade, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, and Chipped Sapphire for the sky.  The grass was inked with Versafine Claire in Rain Forest and Green Oasis. The little rabbit is a mini from Lavinia Stamps named, Pippin.  He is adorable.  The Meadow Mushrooms, mini mushrooms and butterflies are also Lavinia Stamps.

This is a standard A2 sized side-fold card made from black #110 cardstock. The inside sentiment I typed out on my computer.  I stamped my meadow flowers and butterflies and then brushed in a hint of color with my inks.

I'll be entering this in the Lavinia World Challenge #33.   If you haven't checked out Lavinia World, you should.  They have some awesome stamps and inks, among other things, and they have a bi-weekly challenge.

That's it for me today.  Hope you are on your way to having a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!

Orange and Lemon

Hello everyone!  Just a quick post to share with you a note card I made using my new Lavinia stamp, Giselle, that I got in my last haul from Lavinia World Store.   Just something about this little fairy that drew me to her.  She's very different.  The challenge over at Lavinia Stamps Monthly Creative Challenge was "Orange and Lemon."  So Giselle got adorned in yellow and orange.  I used the Honeysuckle stamp to make the background.   Lavinia World Store also has a bi-weekly challenge, as well. I'll be entering here there, too.

I stamped the background with onto some yellow cardstock and then used my CTMH ink in Sunset to kind of burnish the edges.  She is colored with Copics.  I tossed in some punched flowers and some black ribbon from my stash.

I also had made another card in yellows and oranges using the Stargazing stamp from Lavinia Stamps.  I used the Tree Branch stamp and the leaves from the Fairy Door set to make a tree for them to sit by.  Instead of gazing at the stars they are watching the sun rise.  At first, I thought sunset, but I really think it's sunrise.

I used distress oxide inks for the background in Squeezed Lemonade and Abandoned Coral.  The hills were made with Versafine Claire in Green Oasis.  It was a very simple card and fun to make.  I just love these little fairies.

That's all for me for now.  I have a couple of cards I am finishing up and I'll try to be sure to post.  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!  Thanks for stopping by!

Gorjuss Mad Hatter

Hello everyone!  Just stopped by to share another Gorjuss girl card I have created.  This was another stamp I had never used.  I even found a box of card bases and envelopes from the Gorjuss collection, which I used for this card.

I stamped this little girl on Xpressit paper with Memento ink and colored her with Copics.  I couldn't find colored paper that matched to my liking, so I used the same markers and colored strips of paper in the pink and teal.  The card base is striped.  These cards are so sturdy.  I was quite impressed.  The envelopes are just as cute, too.

That's it for me today.  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!

More Bunny Fun

Hello everyone!  I'm back to share another card.  I used the same little hare as the previous card.  I entered this card in the Lavinia World Challenge Blog, as well as the bunny under the mushroom.

This background was also made with Distress Oxide Ink.  Sadly, I couldn't tell you which ones.  I made a whole of backgrounds one day to experiment and this was one of them.  The card is a slimline which fits nicely in a standard #10 envelope.  I imagine the sentiment on the inside will be a "Thanks for everything you do" type of sentiment.  For now, it remains blank.   I used the same hare and mushroom stamps, but added Tree Branch, mini Fairy Lantern, Luna Buds, and the leaves from the Fairy Door stamp set.  His friends are from the Dancing Fairies Stamp set.  The hills were created with Versafine Claire Ink in Twilight.

The card below is a mini card measuring 2.5" x 3.5."   I had a little strip left from my bunny in the rain card.  I really liked that background, so I didn't want to waste it. Making tiny cards is one of my favorite things to do.  I never throw away good background scraps!

As for the bunny card I had previously posted and entered in the Lavinia World Challenge Blog challenge, I won!

They have a new challenge every two weeks.  Definitely go back and check them out.  They have so many beautiful creations to inspire you.

That's it for me tonight.  Thank you for stopping by!  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!

Mini Gorjuss Girls

Hello everyone!  Quick post to share some cards I made with my mini collectable Gorjuss girls stamps from Santoro. For some reason, I just love these little things.  I had collected several of these stamps, but never used them. I have been jumping in and out of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge with Kathy over at the Daily Marker.   The challenge is such a great idea to keep you coloring.  Even if it's just a little each day.

I kept these cards very simple.  I wanted the focal point to be my Gorjuss girl.  The one above I colored with Copics on Xpressit paper then cut her out to put her on the card.  This is a side fold A2 card.

The one below, I colored with Prismacolor pencils directly onto the Neenah Desert Sand paper then mounted her on a plain A2 horizontal, top-fold white card base.

The one below is colored with Copics on Hamilco #110 cardstock.   I'm on the fence about this paper.  I really like, but it's very fibrous when you cut it.  So, you have rough edges.   I'll have to try a different cutter.  The color is a cool bright white and it takes inks well.  I used my new Raindrop stencil from Newton's Nook Designs with Sky ink from CTMH to make it rain.  I used a brush and the same ink to make her a huge puddle to stand in. I haven't decided exactly what the sentiment will be for this one.

That's it for me tonight.  I'm off to color some and try to make Day #25 on the coloring challenge.  I'm going to enter one of these in the challenge over at Lavinia World.  Thanks for stopping by.   Stay safe and stay creative!

Storms Never Last

Hello everyone!  I thought I would pop in to share a card I made with more Lavinia Stamps. I'm sorry, I'm obsessed!   This one is made with one of the Whimsical Hares and the Meadow Mushroom.

I stamped the silhouettes in Versafine Claire Nocturne.  I used my Inktense watercolor pencils to add color to the underside of the mushrooms.  I sat down one evening and made a whole bunch of backgrounds from all different types of papers and inks, just to experiment.  Sadly, I didn't write down what I used, or the colors, or anything, so I will have no way to recreate any of them or tell you what I used.  Sigh.  But, the other side to that is every time I make a background it's a surprise! Lol.

For the inside, I typed my sentiment and then decorated with the same wildflowers and a butterfly from Lavina stamps set called, Butterflies.

That's all for now. I just got a new shipment from Lavinia World Store and I have some creating to do.  I'm going to enter this one in the Lavinia World Challenge Blog, too.  You can find them, here. Thanks for stopping by!

New Found Love

Hello everyone!  I'm back to share a few more of the cards I had made with my Lavinia Stamps.  Most of these were posted originally on Instagram.  Feel free to follow me there @Stacy_Scraps.  Instagram is something else new to me.  I'm still learning!

This is Freya and her little mushrooms stamped in Versafine Claire Nocturne.    This background was just Distress Inks Fossilized Amber, Salty Ocean, Picked Raspberry, and Versafine Claire in Rain Forest.  The random wildflowers are from a set I ordered from Amazon from Kwan.  They have been invaluable fillers.  You will see them repeatedly. .

This is Freya and Fairy Thistles, with random wildflowers.

These are Fairy Thistles and the small set of three Dancing Fairies, along with random wildflowers.  This background I used a brayer and a gel press with Distress Oxide inks and then splattered with Distress Inks.  Something else new I have been playing with, a gel press.  Definitely a learning curve on that one.

That's it for now.  I'll try to post more regularly.  Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time, stay safe and stay creative!

For the Love of Fairies!

Hello everyone!  It's been a while since I posted.  The card classes are over and I now have a stockpile of wonderful greeting cards to send to friends and family.  Love those classes.  While in class I started following some folks on Instagram which exposed me to Lavinia Stamps.  How have I survived without these?  This is a new style for me, but I have so enjoyed it.

I found a store in the US that has a huge selection of these stamps, Lavinia World .  They also have a blog with challenges and a very active Facebook group.  There is all kinds of inspiration to be had on these pages.

I recently entered a card in their Facebook challenge and received an honorable mention.  This is the card...

I stamped these images in Versafine Clair Nocturne on a background I created using distress oxide inks in Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet.  I used SSS White Pigment Ink to stencil on the moon.  I added, which you cannot see from this photos, sparkles with my Gellyroll stardust pen by Sakura.  Love these pens!

I have made several cards with my new stamps and my experimental backgrounds.  I never throw any of them away.  You just never know what you can turn them into!

If you get a chance, go check out Lavinia World, their blog, and facebook page.  You will not be disappointed.

I'll be back with more later.  Until then,  stay safe, and stay creative!

Day 20 - Window Weaving

Hello everyone!  Day 20 at Online Card Classes' Spring Card Camp 2 was all about window weaving with Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner.    This technique is an excellent way to use up your scraps.  Using scraps is one of my favorite things to do.  The weaving part was very therapeutic, as well.    I made two cards, but I could make a lot more with the scraps I have.

These were fun.  I got a little carried away with the blue card.   The weaving makes it a bit busy and then I kept adding to that.  I just couldn't  help myself.  I had scraps to use.   My idea for this card was something totally different.  I was going to try to make that one more masculine.  As you can see, it didn't turn out that way...lol.  The other one I tried to keep simple.

Day 20 was the last day for the card class.  These two classes have been fun and made me so productive. I had not made any cards in a very long time and between these two classes I have made well over 50 cards.  That's more than I have made in a year!    If you get the chance to take a class from OCC, definitely do it.  I'll be waiting for the next class.

Until next time, stay home, stay safe, and stay creative!  Thanks for stopping by!

Day 19 - Monoprinting

Hello everyone!  Day 19's theme at Online Card Classes' Spring Card Camp 2 was monoprinting.  I love the idea.  I struggled a bit with the technique.  I didn't have a gel press or dioxide inks.  You don't need those things, but I think it would be a lot more effective if you had them. I ended up using pigment inks and my large acrylic stamp block.  It was neat and I may try it again.  Out of all my attempts (and there were more than three), I did manage to get three card fronts I thought I could work with.

The card on top and on the left are from the same inking on the block.  I love the two for one you get with this technique.  The card on the bottom right was what was left on the block after stamping off the paisleys.  The stamped card didn't turn out how I wanted, but I thought I could work with the background.   Again, I pulled out stamps and dies that I haven't used or haven't used in a very long time.  I'm still working with scraps, too!

Thanks for stopping by!  Stay home, stay safe, and stay creative!

Day 18 - Abstract Backgrounds

Hello everyone!  I'm still behind on homework from Online Card Classes Spring Card Camp 2 class.  Yana Smakula showed how to make simple, yet colorful and abstract, backgrounds for your cards.  I must say, I probably wouldn't have tried this on my own.  I made three cards and still had several backgrounds leftover for future use.

For the pink card, I used inks from Hero Arts.  I have a few mini sets.  These colors were Butter Bar, Fresh Peach, Pale Tomato, and Crimson.   The graphic design flower stamp is from Altenew.  The second card is made with inks from Close to My Heart in Pacifica, Lagoon, Pear, and Sunny Yellow.  In both card designs the only thing used was the stamp pad.   These were fun.  I'll be sure to share the others if they get made into cards.

I'm going to try to get caught up tomorrow.  Until then, thanks for stopping by!  Stay home, stay safe, and stay creative.

For some reason Instagram has made it difficult to upload to inlinkz.  If you would like to see more cards, you can find me on Instagram @stacy_scraps.

Day 16 Leftovers

Hello!  I had a few leftover flowers and a mini piece of watercolor paper from day 16's project.  My favorite thing to do with leftovers is make little cards.  This card is the perfect size for gift card giving measuring 2.5" x 3.5".

I used my CTMH watercolors for this wash background as well.  This time on Strathmore cold press.  I used my deckled rectangle dies for this one, too.  The sentiment is from the same Card Exchanging Friends stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 16 - Watercolor Washes

Hello again!  Day 16 was about watercolor washes.  I was especially inspired by a card from Norine Borys.  Her card had blocks of gradient color with sentiments.   The watercolors I used are a set from Close to My Heart.  They tend to be a bit chalky in the end, but the colors were pretty.

The sentiments are from an old Simon Says Stamp set called, Card Exchanging Friends.  I might try this design again with different paper and paints.   It was simple, easy, and fun.  Just the way I like it :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Day 15 - Easy Shaker Cards

Hello everyone!  I'm back to share a card a made for Day 15 of the Online Card Class:  Spring Card Camp 2.  This day was all about tips and techniques from Kristina Werner and Heather Ruwe to make easy shaker cards.

This heart started out to be part of Day 16's homework which is colorwashing, but it worked out great as a shaker.  I'll be back with another card for Day 16.

Thanks for stopping by!  Stay home, stay safe, and stay creative!

Day 13 - Spotlighting Die Cut Backgrounds

Hello everyone!  I'm playing catch up on my Online Card Class:  Spring Card Camp 2.  Day 13 was all about spotlighting your die cut background.  I have to say, I don't think I have ever done this.  Jennifer McGuire showed several tips and techniques for doing this.  For my first attempt, I thought I would keep it simple.

I die cut my flowers and leaves and stacked them three high.  Then I blended over them with my CTMH inks in Cotton Candy, Sorbet, and Buttercup.  Then I added a fourth uncolored layer to the larger flower and leaves.  I thought this was a really neat affect.  The sentiment is from an old Simon Says Stamp set called, Happy Everyday.

I'll be back to show you some more homework, shortly.  Thanks for stopping by!

Day 14 - Watercolor Inspired by Children

Hello everyone!  I am on Day 14 of Online Card Class's Spring Card Camp 2.  Yes, part 2.  I am way behind on posting on here and in class..lol.  I'll go back and post all that I have missed at a later time.  But for now, I wanted to share my homework for Day 14.

Debby Hughes taught some techniques with watercolor that was inspired by children's art.  I used my Karin brush markers for the first time.  I think I like them, but I definitely need to swatch them.  The colors on the caps are nothing like the color you get from the marker. I free-handed some squares in a very random, not-so-perfect background.  For the little one, I used some super skinny washi tape to lay out my not-so-perfect triangular background.  I used my brushmarkers to color it, as well.

These were fun.  I tried to channel my inner child and not be precise,  and keep it simple.

Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe, stay home, and stay creative!

Watercolor Masking - Day 5 at Spring Card Camp

Hello everyone!  Yesterday was day 5 at Spring Card Camp over at Onlinecardclasses.com.  The extremely talented Debby Hughes showed a technique using a die cut as a mask.  Her cards are always amazing. She made it look so easy.  But.....mine didn't work out the same..lol.  Such is life.  I did use watercolors I have never used and I was able to make three cards from the mess I made.  So, it's a win in my book.

Here are two cards I made from my attempting to use the die cut from Darice as a mask.  My water seeped all up under it so it didn't leave the outline I was looking for.  I ended up die cutting another flower from a blank piece of watercolor paper and placing it where the image should have been.  The die cut I was using to mask turned out ok, so it got a place on the second card.

I am going to keep trying with watercolors.  I love painting, but something about the lack of control with watercolors makes me struggle.  While attempting to do another background to try the masking technique again, I had a little Bob Ross moment.   In the spirit of Bob, I went with it.  My happy little accident turned out to be a tree.  I put it on a hillside and attempted to add some clover.   Even though it was a mistake, I really kind of like it.

I'm officially a day behind in class.  Today's class looked super fun and I can't wait to get to it, but that will have to wait for tomorrow. Maybe this weekend I can catch up.  Until then....

Thanks for stopping by!   Stay home, stay safe, and stay creative!

Die Cut 2 for 1 - Spring Card Camp Day 4

Hello everyone!  Today's lesson was from Julie Ebersole, a master at CAS.  I really love her style.  She showed some examples of using coordinating die cuts with images to get two cards from one stamping session, which is the theme for this class.

I used a stamp set I have never used (another challenge for myself - to use things I haven't used) from CTMH called Chelsea Gardens - Cardmaking stamp set. One of the few sets I have with coordinating dies.   Here was my take on today's homework.

I stamped the butterfly on the outside and the inside of the card on the left.  I die cut the one on the front to reveal the one on the inside. I stamped more butterflies from the set on the inside and I colored everything with Prismacolor pencils.  It has been a long time since I used colored pencils.  They were my first artistic love.

The card on the right had the butterfly from the card front, which I colored with Copics.   The "hello" sentiment was from an old Hampton Arts stamp set, again, that I had never used.

I had a lot of fun with the lesson from class today.  I find coloring relaxing and I tried something I wouldn't normally do.   Thanks to OCC for getting my creative juices going again!

That's all for me.  Until next time...stay home, stay safe, and stay creative!

Coloring with Paper - Spring Card Camp Day 3

Hello everyone!  Today in class we explored coloring with paper with Yana Smakula.  She made some lovely cards by paper piecing a stamped geometric background.  I have to say, I struggled a little bit with this one, too.   This class is pushing me to try all kinds of new things, which I enjoy.   Here is my take on today's class.

I only have one geometric background.  This was one of the first background stamps I bought.  It's from Hero Arts called Hexagon Background.  I used Versafine ink to get a good dark stamp on this colored cardstock.  Word of caution, that's a lot of ink in these backgrounds, let it dry really well or heat set it before you start cutting.  I had ink everywhere before I was done...lol.  I didn't have a house stamp or die, so I just cut two squares and made my own.  I tried to create my own landscape with the colors.  I'm not sure I was totally successful, but it was fun trying!

I can't wait to see what the class holds for tomorrow.  Until then...stay home, stay safe, and stay creative!
