Owl Always Love You

This is the last of the cards I had made last weekend.

It's a 5x7 Kraft card base. I used the Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set for the owls.  I cut the big heart and the branch for the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge.  The heart is Hollyhock and the card face is Colonial White.  The leaves were punched with two different sized Marvy punches out of Sweet Leaf and Olive cardstocks.  Again, hard to tell from the picture, but I used the lightest color sparkle from the Brown and Tan Sparkle Assortment for the owls' eyes.  I used my embossing stylus and my scoring board and embossed a frame around the card face.

Very easy and simple design with very little stamping.  Oh, the owls were stamped on Colonial White cardstock in Champagne, Hollyhock, and Chocolate.  I daubed the color onto my stamps.  The inside sentiment I used the computer and simply typed out, "Owl always love you," and "Happy Valentine's Day."

Speaking of simplicity, I made probably my most simple Valentine's yet.  I had cut two hearts from Hollyhock when I made the card above, so I used the leftover to make this card below.

I simply glued the heart on a standard white card base.  I stamped the sentiment from the Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set.  I outlined the card face with our Silver Metallic Marker (<--- love these!).  Then, I adhered a tiny white bow I made with some ribbon from my stash.  Voila!  Couldn't be any easier.

Pastel Krafty Valentine

I'm still not through with Valentine's.  I guess that's a good thing since it isn't until next month.  For once I'm ahead of the game..lol.  Doesn't happen often.  Here's another simple Valentine done in pastel colored cardstock on Kraft.

This is a standard sized Kraft card.  I embossed the front with swiss dots.  I cut the hearts from the Artiste Cricut cartridge.  I stamped the little one and the sentiment with the Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set.  The cardstocks are Cotton Candy, Sky, and the yellow Dotty for You.  I free-handed the faux stitching with a white gel pen.   It's hard to tell from the picture but the pink and yellow piece are adhered with 3d foam, as is the striped heart, to give a little dimension.

A Mimi Valentine's

Here's a couple more of the Valentine's that I put together.  The little fairy girl is from a Penny Black stamp set called Mimi in Paris.  I thought she was precious and knew I had to do something with her.

The card above is a 5 x 5 card of White Daisy.  You can't really tell (my apologies for the bad lighting) but the background is embossed with hearts.  I colored her hair and skin with Copics.  Her dress, leggings, and wings are with CTMH alcohol ink markers in Cotton Candy, Sweet Leaf and Sky.  I coated her wings with Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.   The sentiment is stamped from the Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set, same for the card below.  The card below is 5x7. I used a white gel pen and added the faux stitching around Mimi and added a ribbon from my stash. 

The only thing that took any time on these cards was the coloring.  But I do love to color :)

Clearly the Best: Embossed Resist Stamping

Close to My Heart has produced yet another great instructional video showcasing a really neat technique:  embossed resist stamping.  I had never heat embossed anything until I started with CTMH.  I do love their embossing powders.  To emboss and then add ink, what's not to love?  It's a great effect.

I used this technique on my little snowmen card for a subtle background.  

Although hard to see in this picture, I embossed the snowflakes in clear embossing powder on my white background and then lightly daubed on the blue to make a soft sky-like color.  This technique can be used for the dramatic or the subtle.

A Christmas Project

I found these lovely display stands at Michaels earlier in the year.  I fell in love instantly.  They have sleeves for 10 pages.   I got myself the 12 x 12 and the 8x8 displays.  I got two more 8x8 displays for friends for Christmas.   I thought they would be perfect for desks, mantles or even end tables.  I wanted to share some of the pages I did for one of  the Christmas presents.

It was a little challenging for me at first, trying to downsize my thinking from  12 x 12 to 8x8.  But these are display stands and whereas I add journaling and details to my normal scrapbook pages, it's not needed here.   I grabbed some photos from facebook (gotta love social media..lol) and whipped up a few pages and then I did some that I left blank.

More Valentines

Yesterday I was in the Valentine's mood, apparently.  I got several Valentine's cards done.  All were different styles and papers.  The first one I got done was still from that Christmas paper I had made the gift card holders from.  The more I looked at this card, the more this started to look like Christmas paper..lol.  I guess as it was intended, but I continued on in my pursuit of a Valentine.  I made this one to contain a bookmark.  I gave my daughter a card like this last year and I really liked the design and tried to recreate it.

The card itself measures 7 x 3.5 inches. Kind of odd sized, but I found a whole stack of envelopes this size.   The little tag on the front is attached with a little glue dot just behind the ribbon knot.  That way it can be easily removed and used as a bookmark.  I scalloped the edge of the card with my corner rounder. The heart was cut from the Cricut Artiste cartridge on Cotton Candy cardstock.   I stamped the sentiment at the top from Card Word Puzzle.  The on was kind of challenging. I used the word "NOTE" and turned it upside down and masked off the "TE."  But, it worked!   The Valentine's Day sentiment at the bottom, along with the hearts, and the inside sentiment are from the Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set.  The stitching down the side is from the Stitched Together set.  All stamped in Cotton Candy ink.  Here's the inside.  

I just used a tiny scrap of paper and glued it on each side to make a little holder for the ribbon tail of my bookmark.

A Simple Valentine

As much as I love Christmas, I'm giving the Christmas crafts a rest.  It's time to move on to what's next.  I have made the transition from Christmas to Valentine's.  I just recently received my Whoo's Your Valentine kit, CTMH's constant campaign for this month and next,  and it is adorable.   Here's a  simple Valentine's day card I made.

This is on a 5x7 black card base.  I embossed the White Daisy cardstock with a dotted background.      I then punched a 2" circle on the right side.  The ribbon is from the retired Tulip Mini Medley.  The heart is a Dimensional Elements Heart that I inked with Tulip ink and a dauber.  The little silver tag is from a set of  curling tags I found on clearance at some point.  I tied my bow around my White Daisy, adhered my little tag that says "I Love You", and then used 3d foam tape to attach it all to the card base.  I then used glue dots and attached my heart in the openting.  I used our Silver Metallics Marker and a ruler and made the silver outline around the front. I absolutely love these metallic markers.  I find myself using them all the time.   Voila!  Simple and sweet valentine's card.   Here's the inside. 

I used the Whooo's Your Valentine stamp set from the  kit for the sentiment and the hearts on the inside.  They are all stamped in Tulip ink.  I used the same marker and drew a simple line around the inside sentiment just to dress it up a little bit.
