More patterns at play

We are up to Day 5 on Pattern Play card class from Online Card Classes.  Well, it's more like "they" are on Day 5.  I'm still working on some cards from Day 1!

For some reason, I have been attracted to this paper.  It's has odd colors, but  I have been trying to make it work with some of these card ideas from class because I like it.  Here's a Day 1 card I made with it.  It's K&Co. paper from the Wild Raspberry set.

I'm determined to make this work well in something.  I didn't quite hit the mark here, but the card concept was very neat.  I recently purchased some nesting heart dies from Sizzix.  I used them here to cut four papers at once, leaving me with concentric, perfectly fitting hearts.  So this card is one layer with exception of the banner. I thought it was a really neat idea. I will definitely be trying it with some other papers.

Day 3 explored using large print paper and using it in panels on your card.  I took the same paper from above and tried it with this technique.

I hadn't made a round card in a long while.  I cut my panels and used repositionable adhesive to space them evening on some scrap paper.  Then I took my big circle from a Nestabilities die set and ran it through the Big Kick.  I then attached them to the card.  It's still not great but it's getting better.

When you have leftovers from scrapping, you make cards.  And when you have leftovers from cards, well, you make smaller cards!  I used a leftover heart from the first card along with a banner cut from the Artiste cartridge and made a tiny thank you card.

This one is my favorite.  It's a 2 1/2 x 4" card.  These are perfect for using with a gift or a flower arrangement.  I love little cards.  This paper looks completely different on a small scale.  I used Twilight for the larger banner and stamped my sentiment in Twilight ink.  I stitched around it with my white gel pen.  I used my Cotton Candy marker from Close to my Heart and colored some Bitty Opaques and added them.  I trimmed about an 1/4" off the front of the card.  I scalloped a piece of scrap blush cardstock and attached it to the back of the front of the card so that it would line up even when the card closed.  This one was quick, fun, and easy.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be posting more soon, so be sure to check back by!

  1. Lovely, sweet cards, love the way you have incorporated the paper into the cards. I was originally attracted to your post from the online card classes photo of the middle card, but I think I also like the last one best! :)

  2. Thanks so much Angela! My lighting is horrible, the color of the paper is much more correct in the last one. Thanks for stopping by!
