A Couple of Thank You's

I hope everyone had a good weekend.  Sadly, it's coming to a close and Monday is not far away..yuck.  I did manage to steal some time this weekend and get to the craft table.  I have just now gotten the chance to explore the Simon Says Stamp September kit.   Better late than ever.  At least I hope so anyway..lol   Here's a couple of Thank You cards I made with the kit.

This one I used Close to My Heart inks and cardstock along with the SSS stamp set.  I used Buttercup, Sky, Juniper, Blush, and Hollyhock.  I love the little build a flower stamps.  The striped image is from the In the Background stamp set from CTMH.

All the papers in this card were from the kit with exception of the white card base which is CTMH.  The sentiment is stamped in Juniper ink. The bakers twine and the button are also from CTMH.

Both of these cards were fun and easy to make, two qualities I like in my cards.  I need to dive back into this kit and see what else I can come up, but the new one is already here!  I am so behind!  lol.

That's it for tonight.  I hope to have more cards posted throughout the week, so be sure to check back later.  Thanks for stopping by!

Petite Perks Mini Cards

I went on a mini cardmaking binge!  I couldn't help myself.  After making the little "thank you" card for my workshop, I went a little overboard on the minis.  If any of you have hosted a Close to My Heart gathering, you may have been given a Petite Perks stamp set.  For those who are not familiar, these are little stamp sets frequently given to the hostesses as a thank you for having the gathering.  I have accumulated several of these over the past couple of years as a consultant.  I realized that I had not made any cards with these stamps sets.  For all of you hostesses that have received these mini stamps and thought, "How cute.  What can I do with these?"  Here's your answer :)

This was a set I used for a hostess gift.  I included the Petite Perks stamp set with a set of four mini cards.  This set was called Nature's Delight.  It has the little owl, a leaf (stamped on the far left card), a butterfly, and a Christmas tree.

Most all of my mini cards are made with scraps of paper leftover from previous projects.  The background of the cards above were stamped with Topiary and Cranberry.  I used our alcohol markers to color in the trees.  I have added some sparkles here and there.

Another set  was Critter Expressions.  I thought these little fellows were dog gone adorable.

The last set was from a petite set that didn't have a name, just number.  It had a heart, a bee, and a butterfly and the sentiment "thanks so very much."

I just had a good time with these.  Some I colored with markers, others I used pencils. I used a journaling pen and did all the borders by hand.  I thought it added a little bit of whimsy.

That's my show and tell for the evening.  For all of you that have a collection of Petite Perks, bust them out and make some minis!  The newest set is "A Touch of Fall."  That will be next on my list to make.  I'll be sure to share them with you when I am done.

Thanks for stopping by!  Happy Scrapping!

A Little Thank You

Just a quick post tonight.  This was the last card we made at the workshop on the 14th.  It's a mini card.  I love mini cards.  They are just cute and fun to make.

You may recognize the houndstooth design. That's our Lagoon Houndstooth Washi tape.  The flourish is from the Love Life stamp set and the sentiment is from the Casual Expressions stamp set. They are both stamped in Desert Sand.  I punched the butterfly from Crème Brulee cardstock and inked its edges with Sorbet ink.  I used three Bitty Opaques for his body after coloring them with my Crème Brulee alcohol marker.

I do have two of the kits from the September 14th workshop left.  I have gone ahead and stamped and inked all the pieces that call for it.  All that is left to do is assemble.  If anyone is interested, the cost is $12 for the kit.  It includes four standard sized cards with envelopes:  Just Beecause (Pun Fun); I am Grateful for... (A Friend Like You/Huntington); Hip Hip Hooray (Card Chatter Birthday/Lola); Gift for Baby (Wild Wonders/ B is for Baby/ Babycakes) and the mini card pictured above.  If anyone is interested, just drop me a line.

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Thanks for stopping by!

Babycakes

Babycakes is another one of the new paper packs featured in the Autumn/ Winter idea book.  I really love the polka dots in this paper pack.  The colors are gender neutral, leaning towards masculine, but I think it's a very versatile pack.  I have seen some darling baby things made with it and I have seen some not so baby things.  It just so happens I used it to make some baby cards.  This was card #4 at my workshop this past weekend.

The colors in this paper pack are Buttercup, Slate, Chocolate, Sunset and Colonial White.  I found I liked Whisper with it better than the Slate in the cards I was making.  I used the B is for Baby  and Wild Wonders stamp sets.  They are both new sets featured in the new idea book.  The little giraffe from the Wild Wonders stamp set is stamped in Buttercup on its corresponding Cricut cut-out from the new Artbooking cartridge.  I used our blending pen and our Chocolate ink and painted in his little spots.  The little sparkly button doodad is from the Babycakes Assortment.   I finished it with a little natural hemp and that was it.  It was a relatively simple card.  Hand painting the giraffe was a little time consuming, but I think worth it.  I took the stamping to the inside of the card as well.

The sentiment and rattles are from the B is for Baby stamp set.  After stamping in Chocolate ink, I again used my blending pen, and lightly colored the rattles in with Buttercup and Sunset inks.  Because I used the inks to paint on the color on the inside of the card, there was no bleed through on the back.

I made a couple of more cards while I was working with this paper.  I loved the little rattle stamp and wanted to see what I could do with it.

The bows on the cards are from the Artiste cartridge and the scalloped edge was made using our new scalloped edge border punch.   The other papers in the pack are great, but I fell in love with the polka dots.

That's it for tonight.  Don't forget you only have a couple of weeks left to take advantage of Close to My Heart's National Stamping Month special.  Three full size stamp sets for only $10 when you make a $50 qualifying purchase.  Click here to check it out!

Thoughtful Fall Cards with Huntington

Huntington is one of the new paper packs in the Autumn/Winter catalog from Close to My Heart.  It is a perfect fall paper pack. I love the colors.  The more I see of this paper the more I like it.  I designed these two cards to create at an upcoming card workshop.

I used Olive, Autumn Terracotta, and Barn Red inks and daubed them on the stamp to create the flowers.  They are from the Happy Autumn stamp set.

I carried the stamped image over onto the inside of the card as well.

Supplies used:
Cardstock:   Colonial White, Olive, Kraft, Barn Red, Huntington B&T
Inks:  Autumn Terracotta, Olive, Barn Red
Stamp Set:    Happy Autumn, A Friend Like You
        Cricut cartridge:  Art Philosophy

Laughing Lola Birthday

Happy weekend everyone!  I just thought I would do a quick post this morning and share with you a card I made using the Laughing Lola paper.  I absolutely love the colors in this paper pack.  It does have exclusive colors like Laughing Lola Gold and Laughing Lola Purple, but there are some standard colors that go well with it, too.

Here I used Gypsy, Lagoon, Black, and White Daisy.   I cut the flower from the Art Philosophy cartridge in different sizes and colors and layered them.  The banner was also a cut from Art Philosophy.  I used the Card Chatter Birthday stamp set.  The gem in the middle of the flower is from the Laughing Lola Assortment.  There's a little Black Hemp and Black Shimmer Trim thrown in there, too.

This is one of the four cards we will be making at the card workshop coming up next weekend. For more information on any of the products I used, feel free to contact me or stop by my website

Don't forget to take advantage of the National Stamping Month campaign from Close to My Heart.  You can purchase the You Are My Happy stamp collection for only $10 with a $50 qualifying purchase.  That's three full size stamp sets for only $10! The set is only available through the end of this month, so be sure to get yours now!

Birthday Wish Star

I hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed their holiday.  Despite the rain, it's been rather nice at home today.   I was able to get some cards done...yay!  I just felt like being crafty today, so I went for it.  Here's the first card I made.  I needed a different spin on a birthday card.

This little card is a scrap card.  I knew what colors I wanted on the card, so I dug through the scrap pile.  I used Honey, Sky, and Cranberry.  This card is  4 3/4 x4 3/4, simply because I have 5x5 envelopes.   I used the In the Background stamp set and the Geometric Background stamp set to add some interest to some of my scraps.  I wanted some patterned paper to pull it all together.  Of course, I don't have such a creature.  I could have 5,000 sheets of paper and it never fails, I don't have what I want.  But alas, the beauty of Close to My Heart is that we have inks that match our paper, so I created my own.  The floral paper was made using the Girls Rock stamp set.  I just random stamped a strip. I cut a star shape from some White Daisy cardstock with the cricut.  I then adhered all my strips of random sizes and colors in no particular order to the star.  I then trimmed around the star.  Voila!  A cute little patterned star. The strips were aligned straight across, but after I was done I thought it was much more fun to turn the star on it's side. I cut out two more little stars, tied a little hemp bow, added some sparkle, added my banner and called it done.

I thought it turned out pretty cute.  I think it's the fun colors that draw me in.  I have a feeling I'll be making more of these.  They are just fun!
